Embroidered Pin
The Brand: Started in 2009 by Marie Macon and Anne-Laure Lesquoy, this French brand is keen on elegance and details. The designers travel for inspiration then make drawings and bring their creations to life using the Cannetilla technique. This technique requires a special metal thread that is wound into coil tubes called bullion or Cannetilla. In Pakistan, with 60 talented craftspeople, Marie and Ann-Laure oversee the making of their laborious and inspired embroidered pieces. We love what they say about themselves and their brand goal: “... to ever and always charm Sunday poets, luxury lovers, handsome boys, gorgeous moms and old dandies around the globe, who would rather laugh at everyday life.”
Description: Make your sweater, coat, jean jacket, tote bag, sweatshirt or overalls your own with these gorgeous and very special pins. They are beautifully made, lightweight and delicate but not so much that you wouldn’t be able to pin it and forget it. (You just don’t want to put them through the wash!) This is a great gift for absolutely anyone. In the shop, we each have a favorite and then a new design comes out and another one catches our eye. We have many collectors and look forward to seeing what Macon et Lesquoy comes up with next.
Details: sizes vary but are generally around 1–2 inches x 2–3 inches, metal thread, sturdy backing, traditional brooch pin on back
A Note From Erika: I love that they took a process that was traditionally used for military decoration and instead make beautifully made wearable art.
